KM by L A N G E
I met Marina, co-founder and designer of the K M by L A N G E (on the right), August last year. She came across as very serious, very busy person - as you would, being a fashion designer. But when we sat down to talk about her company, collection and future plans, her face suddenly changed and she was like a happy kid, ready to take me in her magic world on the journey, showing every item, fabric and design. I suppose it is a 'world' or even 'universe' for each designer - not just current or past collection, or this dress - that dress. It's the world where they create, express their point of view, their dreams, vision, desires. Exposing every little bit of themselves to the public with a risk of being misunderstood, judged and criticised. We talked about struggles new designers face on daily basis. Issues with exploring foreign markets, and how being a woman, creates unnecessary issues, which just don't occur for male colleagues.
K M by L A N G E was created by two sisters. Marina's sister I didn't get to meet, as at that time she was in Spain, fully promoting K M by L A N G E collection. From the very start, Spain reacted with interest and accepted novelty of the brand.
Marina's collection made of incredible pieces. Some might find it a bit too modern, or say its Art fashion rather than everyday wear. But I think she got the balance just right. I can see myself wearing her clothes on daily basis, doing things I do: work, picking kids from school, shopping...It's comfortable and it makes you stand out. Isn't what fashion is about - express your individuality and stand out from the crowd, while picking up the kids from the school ))
These stripy pants (image below) have a special place in my heart, and not because Marina was wearing them when we met, but because they are exactly what my personality requires, they just perfect for me and they are in my wishlist.
